The trek to Birregurra – to feast at the world’s 65th best restaurant – has become a more enticing prospect. Brae has unveiled a series of guest suites nestled on their 30 acre rural property.
With a zero emissions philosophy, architects Six Degrees have incorporated recycled bricks, harvested rainwater, local timber and worm farm waste treatment into the project. You’ll even be slumbering on organic bedding thanks to Studio Round’s styling. They’ve accented the rooms with works by Melbourne painter Rhys Lee, earthy ceramics by Cone 11, custom textiles by Emma Hayes and furniture and fittings by Tait, Jardan and industrial designer Dave Murray.
Instead of fluffy robes and too-big slippers, sleep-over guests at Brae are provided with gumboots and umbrellas for a country jaunt. There are no glittering, 65th floor metropolitan views here. Instead there’s a star-gazing sky light. We’re happy to give up the requisite mint on our pillow for a turntable plus dream record collection (Bowie! Lorde! Caribou!), the in-room cocktail bar and wine fridge.
The icing on the cake: automatic late checkout.
