Longtime collaborators, fashion designer Alexi Freeman and jeweller Tessa Blazey, present ‘Future Artefacts’. In designing intricate gowns from metal rather than fabric they blur the realms of fashion and jewellery, between what could be medieval armour or sci-fi fantasy. The concept is that their creations are futuristic archaeological finds. Happily, it seems that future civilisations retain a very human appreciation for beautiful craftsmanship.
This first exhibition for Craft Victoria’s new gallery (behind Supernormal) enlists photographer Jane Burton to capture the pieces in other-worldly landscapes via evocative locations such as Organ Pipes National Park, Cape Schank, Point Nepean and St Paul’s Beach at Sorrento.
